I have searched the forum but can't find the answers to the following questions:

1) Are the backup files used by iTunes compressed ? I have downloaded 6Gigs of movies, and 1.5 G of music, Books and other files, but the backup folder is less than 400MB.

2) My iPad2 has the following:
Capacity 29 G (the unit is a 32G unit)
Available 16.3G (Which means that I have 12.7G of stuff, Does the Operatings System use 3G ?).

Where are these files kept on my PC ?

Thanks.

1) The backups do not include your apps or media. Those are stored in the iTunes media libraries, and can be re-synced at any time, so it would be redundant.

The backup saves just about everything not stored in iTunes on the computer; settings, app data and documents, contacts, calendar events, etc.

2) Yes, somewhere between 2 and 3GB of data is used by iOS itself.

Which files?

iTunes: What are the iTunes library files?
Where are my iTunes files located?
