An app to trace a route on a map?

I am looking for a way to trace a route on a map - maybe Google Maps? - that will then give me the distance of the route. Is there a way to do this?

Google Maps will do what you require. You can access it through Safari.

Thanks a lot for the reply, but you see this does not meet my requirement. I need to specify a circular biking route. Can't seem to make Google Maps do that?

Hmmm. I don't know of any that will do that. Maybe Garmin have an app that will do it. My standalone Garmin GPS unit will, but I've never used their apps.

MotionX will do some of what you require but not all of it. You can supply as many waypoints as you like but it will only give you distances as the crow flies, not on routes dictated by roads and trails.

Well thank you! A couple of promising apps there that should do the job. Just what I was looking for.
