I keep hearing about a Retina Display for the iPad 3. Could someone please tell me what a Retina Display is?

Retina display=higher resolution, so the user cannot see the individual pixels of the display.

It's a great technology but they are having trouble getting sufficient yields of the larger screens.
When they can, we can look forward to iPads with much larger screen resolutions than 1024.
Should be next year if we're lucky.

Apple always does a simple job at explaining technology. Like the iPad is magical :)
Apple - iPhone 4 - Learn about the high-resolution Retina display

Anyways when you get down to it.. Anything over 300pixels per inch makes pixels too small for the human eye to see, and the resolution of the iphone4 display is 326ppi.

"retina display" is apples own coined term. Which means the display is very high resolution for clear looking pictures and text.
