Hi everyone,

It's nice to be part of the community. Thank you for having me!
Couple of questions. I'm guessing there's an iPad Mini forum and that if I look, I'll find it. If someone could point me in its general direction, though, I'd be very grateful.
The thing that I'd particularly like to know is, is there a way to reproduce an umlaut using the iPad (Mini specifically, but I imagine this would apply to the iPad generally) given that this keyboard doesn't have the option key? I did a search for a name containing letters with umlauts this morning but without them the word changes and the name wasn't found.

Thanks,
dabster

As for the second, do you mean like this ö

If so, press the letter that requires an umlaut, keep your finger on it and a few different options will appear, slide your finger over your chosen configuration(without taking finger off screen)

Hope this helps

Or should I say

If I type "Motörhead" my iPad supplies the umlaut automatically. Wonder if that says more about me than it does the iPad?

Double s (ß) is also available, from the German international keyboard.

Forgot this bit. Here's the iPad mini forum.

Thanks everyone - much appreciated!

Turns out the forum was embarrassingly easy to find, which is not to say I'm not grateful for your help, of course.

Yes, exactly, the ü or the ö is what I had in mind. What is really nifty is that I can write about the Citroën, too - or even Æssop. And thanks, Kevin, the ß will come in handy, too.

Tschüß!
