Evernote works well for me.
This link explains how it works and another link on the page will take you to the app in the app store:

There so many notetaking apps. But it depends on your use. Anyway Notetaker HD is great app you can use it. Otherwise try with Penultimate or UPad.
My 3 favourites are (in order of preference)...
Evernote,
Notability,
and Penultimate

I use the penultimate. You can check it here Penultimate for iPad on the iTunes App Store
Notability just gets better and better. I love how it works with Dropbox, Box, or your own WebDAV. Text, handwriting, audio - it's the best!
Notability - Unleash Your Note Taking Ability.
The main criteria I've been using for looking for note taking apps is the ability to do a global search to find typed text, as well as text in pdf files, regardless of their location in the app. So far the only note taking app I've found that does this is Notability.
I was hoping Notes Plus would do this but it only does a global search typed text, not text that is already in pdf files. I was disappointed with this as Notes Plus looks nice a really nice app.
I'm keeping an eye on Tapose. Currently it doesn't support importing pdf files but I read that will change in the next update. Whether or not Tapose will support global text search is something I don't know yet.
I've stopped using Evernote. It's a great idea but I've found it too buggy.
