To help those who wanna get movies off of Blu-ray/DVD discs and onto smaller iPad for playback, below, I would like to offer the easiest way to convert Blu-ray/DVD to iPad Mini on Mac Mountain Lion 10.8.
Free Download the App — Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac.
The software provides me an easy way to rip, convert and enjoy my huge DVD’s and Blu-Ray collection of movies and concerts. With it, you can effortlessly make your Blu-ray and DVD movies playable on iPad Mini, the new iPad, iPad 2 and the orinial iPad in just a few click mouses. Pop in your disc, choose an iPad Mini output profile, and click “Convert” button to start conversion. Below is a brief guide for you better to put and play Blu-ray and DVD movies on iPad Mini, just follow it.
How to Rip Blu-ray to iPad Mini supported video formats
NOTE: A BD drive is needed to be hooked to your Mac. The way ripping Blu-ray (DVD) to iPad Mini on Windows is almost the same.
1. Add Blu-ray movies
Open the Mac Blu-ray Ripper, insert the Blu-ray disc to the BD drive and then click “Blu-ray disc” icon to load Blu-ray or DVD movies. Open the Blu-ray Ripper, insert the Blu-ray disc to the BD drive and then click “Blu-ray disc” icon to load Blu-ray movies.
2. Set output options for iPad Mini
Click on “Format > iPad”, you will find many profiles for iPad. Here “iPad HD Video(*.mp4)” is highly recommended to you. You can click “Settings” to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish (Remember bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss).
3. Start to rip Blu-ray/DVD to iPad Mini
When you are satisfied with all the settings, you can click “Start” and let the software do the Blu-ray/DVD to iPad Mini Conversion on Mac Mountain Lion.
4. Import new .mp4 file into iTunes (drag .mp4 file to the iTunes icon on the dock).
In this way, you can view 1080p Blu-ray movies on iPad Mini on the go as you like. I don’t think it could get much simpler (unless of course, Apple provides native support for Blu-Ray which doesn’t seem likely).
P.S. If you have any problems about enjoying movies on iPad 2, the original iPad and the new iPad OR iPad Mini, just check out the iPad Video Specials Column to find solutions.
