It was very old school, and not unlike a movie from 1955 called "The Desperate Hours", starring Humphrey Bogart and Frederic March.
It's about some escaped prisoners who hold up in a family's house in suburbia. Same formula .... attractive wife and daughter, but it's a middle class family.

I've heard if that never watched it. In a sense, the fam was middle class, just living in a big house cause their barn wasn't ready.
