What is it?

I'm afraid that's about the limit of my carpentry skills/knowledge. Hopefully someone else has a better idea.

I thought it looked like a framing tool but I don't know now, maybe brick work

Is it used to hold plasterboards in place on an external corner?

I think it's a tool used to fasten the metal corner bead on an outside corner when installing drywall.
