Yes, that was my first reaction. I wonder why they dismissed the idea of disassembly of the shuttle to allow it to pass.

A couple of Concordes were disassembled so that they could be delivered to museums by road.

That may possibly had more to do with the length of Concorde as opposed to it's wingspan. Concorde is 204' in length, while the Space Shuttle is 122' long. Disassembly of a Concorde would also have been much easier, not being covered in a layer of heat shield tiles.
