Well, those poor people rely on their bridges to get to work, fields etc... Wouldn't you be cross if you had to wade across the river every time you wanted to go shopping? Statues are for people to admire and enjoy. They aren't there for thieves to make money with. These things are built using our money so technically they are stealing from us.
