The term "the whole 9 yards" came from W.W.II fighter pilots in the South Pacific. When arming their airplanes on the ground, the .50 caliber machine gun ammo belts measured exactly 27 feet, before being loaded into the fuselage. If the pilots fired all their ammo at a target, it got "the whole 9 yards."

You know, if that little tidbit gets out, peanut stocks might take a plunge, lol.

Don't get me wrong, sci, you're cool, it's just that any article that assumes to know exactly what happened before recorded history doesn't have much credibility. The phrase "before recorded history" implies that we don't exactly know what happened.

Forgive me, I've studied law and am accustomed to picking things apart to find the facts. I'll shut up now
I think annually only 30 tons or less is probably produced by mining giants, BHP put out just over 5 tons their last reported year and Rio Tinto produced 13 tons. The Wiki article talks about more than 150000 tons so any gold not recognized due to pre-historied civilizations probably doesn't make a noticeable dent/impact on the total. Just my thoughts

The slogan on New Hampshire license plates is " Live Free or Die." Inmates of the state prison in Concord make the plates.

Right! If you're allergic to peanuts, don't stand too near the dynamite when it explodes. The allergic reaction is deadly.
