The other Wells made up for it in the radio and first TV rendition. Ground Zero was New Jersey.
So was the Spielberg re-boot (which I enjoyed).
The character Harlan Ogilvy played by Tim Robbins, was a gem.

Did anyone watch the UK produced "Survivors"?
It's a post apocalyptic series that ran 12 episodes. It was quite good and I'm puzzled why the BBC cancelled it.

That's cool that you mentioned "Carnivale." Another show that suffered an early demise. A talented cast. My favourites include Clancy Brown who was in the first "Highlander" movie, Clea DuVall, presently in "American Horror Story" and Nick Stahl. Stahl portrayed John Connor in the 3rd installment of the "Terminator" movie series. I thought he did a great job opposite Clare Danes and nicely expanded the reluctant hero trait of his character.

BTW - I did purchase the "FireFly" box set. Saw the movie conclusion of the series titled "Serenity" in the cinema and purchased the DVD when it became available.
I liked the wild west theme of the show and the use of Mandarin Chinese in the dialogue. I've remembered a few choice phrases for when I feel the need to hurl an expletive at work.

Adam Baldwin who played the character "Jayne Cobb" was strong in FireFly. He was a featured guest at the Ottawa ComicCon earlier this year.

I remember a couple of scifi TV shows when I was a kid. Timeslip and Changes. Anyone else remember them? They would have been screened around 1970.

This is the first I've heard of either program. However, both aired on BBC. You'd think with platforms like BBC iPlayer, this kind of content could be dusted off and placed in a "classics" or "vintage" lobby, accessible by the player.

There was the Irwin Allen TV series The Time Tunnel, which debuted on September 9,1966 and ran till April 7,1967. Each week the main characters would end up in a different period in history, conveniently represented by 20th Century Fox stock footage and new footage shot to blend in.

I did do some digging a few years ago, but didn't find much. There were some photographs on the net of the original shows, but the shows didn't seem to be available anywhere.

And I seem to remember reading that the BBC had a policy of destroying film which was considered to be of no further use. In the pre-digital days, you can imagine how much warehouse storage would have been necessary to store old film.

Babylon 5 remains one of my favorite TV series.
