In the UK, fireworks are only available to the general public for November 5th, when we celebrate the attempt to get rid of our politicians. I suspect the politicians think we are celebrating the failure of the attempt, but a common cry for help in the UK is "Guy Fawkes. Where are you when we need you?" OK. Enough skimming the edge of the politics rule.
They are available year round in Canada. Some of them wouldn't be out of place in a missile silo.
We like our fireworks to make a statement.

I wish we still had them here....I still have a few small ones which I'll keep until New Years Eve.
We don't even have a Guy Fawkes night any more.....I remember it as a kid, so long ago now!

I like them, Gabriel. We heard quite a few going off around us. I think there will be lots more going off, and numerous bonfires tonight.Originally Posted by Gabriel1

Yes, I accidentally bought the massive display fireworks a few years back, we combined the event with a BBQ and too much alcohol, almost burnt the entire neighbourhood down......the locals weren't too impressed but the guests and kids thought it was amazing!Originally Posted by leelai

I stayed in a B&B for a period in Hounslow whilst working at Heathrow a few years back.....the locals used to set fireworks off all year round and for most of the night.....I had to move out in the end as I couldn't get any sleep at all!Originally Posted by skimonkey

I could see why, you'd think they would go to sleep also! That's like here, after 4th of July, we get the stray firecrackers go off--which becomes a bit annoying!
This made me laugh..thinking back a few years ago our neighbor did the same with fireworks at a party. Only it was a windy day and the fireworks flew back and onto their deck. I never saw so many people exit so fast. Scary than, but now we get a laugh!![]()
