A juvenile redbreasted grosbeak and cardinal check out Hoot the Owl. Both picked a few seeds. Hoot is found at Wild Birds Unlimited.

Stranding..it is very different when taking pics of animals/birds, etc. You certainly have to be very quick about it. I have found myself running 2 flights of stairs to capture "the" picture of a roaming deer or deer herd. Sometimes I can get it, other times they get spooked and run off quickly.

Czevski, love Hoot the Owl....very cute! Is the inside of the Hoot made out of suet?

Interesting to see the Grosbeak and the Cardinal peacefully perched together there. That's a great pic you captured with the two staring right at each other like that!

The young cardinal is looking brighter with each pic you have taken of him. Love to see the progression of him.

BTW...saw Bambi this morning walking with his Mom...thank goodness!

Hoot is seeds, nuts, and fruit and gelatin. So far chickadees, nuthatches, cardinals, redbreasted grosbeaks, and a brown thrasher have had a taste of him.

This chickadee is trying to eat the eyes of my Jurustic mini sculpture - and they are ceramic!

You guys have shown me more varied birds than I've seen in my whole life. I always though of them generically, as "birds," and the only ones I've really noticed were the ones that landed on my plate.

Oh my...must have been a good plate of seeds that you were eating,KayKayKay! When we were in Disney a few years back, the birds would just hop on the tables while you eat expecting a handout! They loved potatoe chips and popcorn the best! Pecked at the meat, but really that was it.

Still with the cough, eh Leelai? Hope you get better, it's a bummer to get the cough going and doesn't stop.

We've been having turkey vultures in the yard constantly for the last 3 days. They aren't perching, they're just soaring, theres got to be something dead in the yard or something. Or maybe they're coming from the foster home, They were perching there this morning, so my guess is that they're coming from there, or over on the road that's infested with turkey vultures thats a ways down, they're yard is infested with them. I have a video of the vultures but I don't know how to post the video.
