    That too. The older Popular Science magazines sometimes had illustrations like this as well.

    Not a major science fiction writer. These books were ghost written by writers hired by the publisher. They were of a type sometimes called invention fiction.

    Well, it does not appear to be from Tom Corbett, Space Cadet. I guess I'll have to search further afield.

    Well, there's the Perry Rhodan series, but nothing is matching there either.

    I suppose it's possible (barely) that I missed reading a science fiction series or two in my youth.

    I read more of the story collection in magazines than books.
