I'm not sure, but does the colour indicate a clean supply for computer systems? The red indicates non standard usage.

Because the outlet isn't shrouded or contained in a weatherproof enclosure, it should be situated inside a building.

Close enough. This red receptacle, one of many in the building I work in, identifies a "clean - emergency" power supply for electronics only.
Lights and consumer appliances such as kettles or coffee makers, are forbidden.

    Over to you Richard.

    Thanks Admiral,

    Here's mine

    It's fairly straightforward.

What is the blurred object part of? What would it's use be? What material is it made from?

It looks like one of those cast iron gratings you see placed around the bases of trees.

You are right about the material, and that it's a grating. But it isn't placed around a tree. This picture opens it up a bit

    You are getting warmer

Here it is in full. It's now part of our decking at home.

You are close enough. It was part of a grating run over heating pipes in a commercial greenhouse.

I rescued 2 of the gratings and they now act as drainage gratings for plant pots and ensure adequate ventilation under the decking.

    The challenge is yours now.
