It's an electrical outlet viewed from directly above.The object plugged into the bottom outlet looks like it might be one of those plug in room air fresheners.

A motion detector for an alarm system. It's one of those systems that plugs into electrical outlets and doesn't require having a dedicated wiring run to serve the needs of the alarm system.
