Trying not to take a nap. It's almost 4 pm. Too late for a nap, too early for bed.
Sent from my White iPad 4.
Noticing it's time to say goodnight. :-(

Seeing it from air and from the ground are different experiences, though. From the air, the sense of scale is much more astounding. From the ground, you can take much closer and lengthier looks, without the plane noise, motion, distance and layer of glass/plexiglass or whatever that's between you and the view.
I love tumbleweeds, too. I told my husband that one of these days I'm going to stop the car, load a big tumbleweed and send it to someone as a gag gift.
So the weather was perfect at the Grand Canyon today. We stayed in Flagstaff overnite and drove about 1.5 hours to the canyon for sunrise. It was chilly but worth seeing, though I'd probably prefer to see sunset. We walked a bit of the South Rim while waiting for sunrise, and there were maybe two or three dozen other people doing likewise in our proximity. We saw a deer feeding about 15 feet down the slope from where we stood at one point.
On our way from hotel to the canyon, it was very dark because there was no moon, sun or lights. We saw three deer, including a huge one that we almost hit. That happens from time to time out there, I'm told.
We also had breakfast at the El Tovar hotel dining room, which I'd highly recommend. If you get there early enough, you can sit by the windows and have your meal with a view of the canyon.
Making a list in case an evacuation is called for over the weekend
Glad you didn't hit that deer either, that would have been a show stopper. We saw quite a few deer and even a moose when we were there, well I think it was a moose!
I have to say I was a little taken aback with all the coins that people throw over the edge.....there were coins absolutely everywhere!
We tried to book at the El Tovar, they were booked out for our dates but we did stay within the Canyon area....can't remember now what it was called but it was the only place available for us.....just glad we got in there.
Where are you off to now?
