Just called my local tax board over a billing discrepancy and am kind of amazed because I got a live person, and then the friendly woman somehow steered the conversation to what she's paying in federal taxes, her two sons' surgeries and college loans affecting her payments. It took about two minutes to listen to her and express empathy, and sometimes that's just neighborly to do, I figure. Unexpectedly in return, she told me about something that will save me about $1,000 in taxes this year.
Yes, that's a good story, Kay. It makes a difference to speak to a real person in your country too.

Definitely helps to have someone local for many things.
Sometimes I get people in different countries and even though it can be harder to communicate, I feel for them. It often makes me wonder what kind of effort they had to go to to get a call center job in India, for instance, and how they're struggling for a better life and probably have fewer opportunities than we do in the US, for example, which we take for granted.
