I'm using the iPad as my radio / playing builder's music.

Admire your energy and handyman ability Richard. Those pics of the renovations are just great. Loved the pics of the kitchen as we are starting to think about that, maybe soon. Re that energy, if you have any left over at the end of the day I'll gladly buy some off you. Oh, sorry, trading not allowed on this forum.😝

    Now there's a thought J.A.

Here are 2 tips for sharing.

    1. If you have lots of emulsioning to do, I suggest you buy a powered roller system. Mine saves so much time. Also it felt a lot safer to use from the ladders over the stairwell; I worked quickly and without having to walk to and fro to reload the roller. The downer is that you must use the paint designed for the system, and the colour range is limited.

    2. If I'm painting woodwork on consecutive days, I tightly wrap the paint brushes in 2 plastic bags to keep the bristles flexible. It works a treat and saves having to clean the brushes each day.

I searched for a DIY thread, but there's none. To relate the thread to iPads, I suppose the iPad camera, streamed radio or music, and Apps to help with any associated maths could be introduced?

All good tips Richard, I have a power roller also, but I use regular acrylic latex paint. The problem with it is the paint tends to wear out the seals in the roller head.

1- If I am using a standard roller and paint tray I put the whole thing into a plastic shopping bag carefully closing it up and it will stay okay overnight.

2- When you are finished and put the lid on a can of paint shake it well which will seal the lid for better storage.

3- If you take a break for a half hour or so, fill your brush and roller with lots of paint beforehand.

4- Most Benjamin Moore stores sell samplers so pick a couple of colors and buy the samplers. This lets you paint a larger area to see if you like it and it's cheaper than redoing the paint job.

Those are really great hints, Roy. I've done a fair amount of painting in the last 3 years (inside house walls, outside new pergola/carport etc) and some of those I reckon would have been really useful.
