Sorry for the late reply....I failed to put in my post sandwich. In Southern California grilled cheese sandwich is a must with tomato soup. BTW he got his turkey tonight!Originally Posted by Gabriel1

Sorry, Hayles. I missed this earlier. Yes, you have to move the truck onto the chains. Methods vary somewhat, but I've found that the easiest way is to lay the chains on top of the tires and reverse onto them. Then it's just a case of hooking the ends together and tightening the snail cams.Originally Posted by Hayles66
They are illegal in the UK, by the way. The ones you might see hanging from trucks there are probably heading for Italy, where the law requires them to be carried 6 months a year.

Reverse? Oh, that's ingenious. I would never have thought it was that easy.
No wonder I've never seen them here! I bet they don't want the roads ruined. We probably don't have snow long enough to warrant them. Thanks Kevin.

Quite a few, but nothing life-threatening. The best method I've found for avoiding trouble is to read the potential situation before you get into it. We have a great law in Canada, which I have used several times. The right to refuse unsafe work is enshrined in Canadian law, and it's not just a right; it's a responsibility. If I don't think it's safe, I don't go in.Originally Posted by Hayles66

It's a bit like the stupid 4 wheel drive owners in uk right now with all the floods. Just because they own a 4 wheel drive doesn't mean they can go through a flooded river and come out the other side. Loads of youtube fails at the moment. I own a 4 wheel drive Isuzu and I drive carefully through them. Nothing more embarrassing than being towed out. Especially for us females. Men seem to get a kick out of teasing us. Strange that they don't do it to their fellow men. Thankfully, my crash record is almost perfect apart from one little crash when I was 19 (racing my brother into film theatre car park and misjudged the oil tank height!). My hubby's record is a bit longer. He gets, hmmmm, how do I put it? Ambitious?
