Haven't seen one of those for a long time. Reminds me of the first TV my family had. A black and white "Admiral" brand with separate VHF and UHF tuning dials.Originally Posted by nathan the ipad lover

Wow admiral! I have a Thorne color tv that's the one with 2 knobs it's also a solid state set but it acts like a tube set
Another picture of the Thorne up close for you admiral![]()
TV of yore was a lot of work.Originally Posted by nathan the ipad lover
After the Admiral, we upgraded to a Fleetwood and later a Motorola set and then a Philips. All tube powered and black and white.
I had moved out and was married by the time dad went colour (Zenith) solid state. I inherited the Fleetwood.
In 1982 I bought a Hitachi colour set with a push button tuner. It lasted, without need of repair, until 2004 when the tube went.
In 1985 we purchased a 5 motor direct drive, Front loading Electrohome VHS machine. It lasted until 2001 with regular head abd tape guide cleaning. Once I had to pay $35.00 to have the tape guide alignment corrected.
Try to find electronics today with similar durability.
