What gets me is the dredging for the Mint tailings! They must actually expect to find enough that are able to get past the security measures there must be in place.

Yes I'm not entirely clear on the arrangement between the salvagers and the Mint. I do know there's a philanthropic aspect to it so I suspect that helped smooth the way for permits etc.

No. But I'm just as outdated in other ways,

Not a fan of networked computers. Lots of computers onboard but each is assigned a task with a second independent processor running parallel as back up. Galactica has "triple" redundancy in the Combat Information Centre" but nothing's networked.

Less for the enemy to exploit.
