Funny you should ask that because mine won't upgrade. ITunes tells me that 4.2.1 is the correct version and that no upgrades are required for my iPod Touch 3G. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

Well, I have the iPod Touch 2, so not possible for me; but the iPod Touch 3 is suppose to be upgradeable?
Just for starters, have you updated iTunes to the 10.5 version? This is needed to install iOS 5 on compatible devices.
If so and still having problems, check out Rich's excellent post HERE - good luck!

Howdy,
I just finished a 40min upgrade of iOS 5 to my iPod touch 3.
It went smooth as silk!!

Hi, yes I've got 10.5 and upgraded my iPad with very little problem. Will take a look at Rich's post.
