Gmail contacts messed up

Trouble comes from my imac address book. Deleting 24k at once makes the addressbook crash. Doing it now 5k at the time.
Looks like something went wrong with the synching.
Happy for having a backup.

Your not syncing via exchange and iTunes are you? That would cause your contacts to multiply

Only the contacts in "all contacts" had mulitplied. Lucky, because my groups were still okay. Now I exported these groups as VCards. Delete the more than 24k addresses and import the Groups again.
Should work.
