But as you have noticed, I prefer to do it myself and look ahead. Yes we do need to learn from history, not just romanticise it. But for me it doesn't stop at learning......I like to apply, even if it's at the cost of making some mistakes.
For whatever it is worth, I see a lack of poetic justice in the fact that Le corbusier never did a building in Britain where Norman foster gets to do Gherkin.
