Well, Richard, I you get the chance, I recommend a visit. Saint Dénis itself is a pretty hideous place. (Think Milton Keynes with no street cleaning) but just follow the signposts for the Basilique and you are in for a treat. There is a digital guide system in English that will set you back a few Euros, so you know what you are looking at. There has been a church on the site for 2000 years, and the original buildings, or at least part of them, have been opened up by excavation.Originally Posted by Richard Brown
Driving to St Dénis is easy. From Calais, head for Paris on the A1, and turn off just before you hit the Péripherique. The Stade de France is on your left side just about opposite the exit, so you'll know where you are. If you get to Charles de Gaulle airport, you've gone too far.
