That was a shame. Thanks for letting me know. Our old movie theatre was like that but unfortunately a church took it over and that was the last time we went to our local cinema. The nearest one is 20 miles away in Yeovil. We now have 5-6 churches but no cinema. Oh and about 9 pubs. Interesting don't you think?

How strange, we have the opposite, a church that has been taken over by a cinema!

That is unique. The days of the local town cinema are coming to an end. They did try but people just go to the multiplexes. Shame really. I remember watching Twister and one of the Bond movies there.

This is the croquet lawn at the back.

The little church at the side

We had a picnic in the nearby field with a dovecote. There were allotments next to us which were all delightful to walk around. The National Trust are trying to get everyone to Grow Their Own Veg and are allowing people to rent allotments from their properties.

What a beautiful place, Hayles. It looks Mediaeval and a quick search shows that the first part of the house is 14thC.

I note that part of the building is a holiday let. http://www.bbc.co.uk/somerset/conten..._gallery.shtml

The building and its lands are owned by the National Trust. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lytes-cary-manor/

Thank you for sharing this gem of a place.

Thank you for switching over from the thrills and excitement of the London Olympics 2012 thread.

Here are some touristy shots of Greenwich, showing how the Greenwich Pier has been developed, and Cutty Sark fully restored and raised up onto her glass wave.

There was a food etc festival going on by the Olde Naval College. Yesterday, Greenwich really sparked and shone for so many great reasons.

This is from The Atlanta Botanical Gardens in Atlanta, Georgia. The fountain topper is a glass sculpture from Dale Chihuly.
