    Those mounds are a winter's worth if snow from the store parking lot where I work. The main city snow dump site has so much snow in it that it won't finish melting till September.
    We only need about another inch of snow to break a 57 year old winter snowfall record.

    Prairie winter as I recall can run from late September to early May if it's a bad year.

    Here are two photos of my front yard, one taken last November and one just now. Quite a difference in the amount of snow.
