last thursday i accidentally found out something about the apple headphones and that is they are possibly water proof. this is the standard issue white headphones that we see everywhere, anyways the head phones were in the pocket of my gym kit and i when i put them in the washing machine the headphones got wet in laundry soap, got spinned and what not. anyways after emptying the washing machine i thought the headphones were destroyed, but before chucking away i thought i will test them, so took the old i pod touch which i dont use anymore and tried it on that and guess what it worked. today is sunday and i used it in the gym and its working properly. so really impressed, that it been working for 4 days now after getting wet. Word of WARNING DONT TRY THIS as it home as it may destroy yours.

I've been meaning to try out those new ear pods. I received a pair with my new iPhone. They are still in its pretty little plastic box, but was wondering of they sound and fit well. Good to know they have some or a lot of protection from water!Originally Posted by Good karma

I've found them more comfortable and better sounding. The old ones start irritating my ears (not unbearably) after about 15 minutes. I can wear the new ones for about an hour before any minor irritation sets in. Your ears my vary.
Quality wise, there are one of the best I've ever owned. Hold in mind I buy really cheap in-ear headphones for the most part. Most of the audiophile posts I've seen either call them adequate, or better than the old ones but still terrible (with suggestions for $100 alternatives.)
The openings are smaller than the old set, so they are probably somewhat more water resistant, but I would not care to put it to the test. Though Good Karma's story is encouraging news, in case of accidents.
If you already like, or tolerate, the old headphones, you'll probably be pleased with the new ones.
