    Green Electronic Cigarettes

Well, I bought one of those electric cigarettes today. That is to say, I just tossed thirty dollars away. Mine is charged using a USB connection to my laptop. I swear that is the last USB device I will buy because I am now portless.

The maker decided to use Green Marketing Techniques. The unit is marked as being better than cigarettes because they use Green Technology. The device contains nicotine, all kinds of polymers and metals, a chemical filled Lithium battery, a LED that is made with all sorts of chemicals, and it requires power to charge it.

It is packaged in both cardboard and plastic.

I guess they forgot that cigarettes are made from natural tobacco and thin as hell degradable cigarette paper.

    Just thought I would report.

    Bob

I generally smoke cigars; the E-Cig was a gift.

I might buy one just to bother others at the train stops. Many of them are all too happy to call the transit police if they even think you are thinking about even considering having a thought about buying a smoke.

Well ... I've been using an electronic cigarette now for almost 2 years. It's been since June 2009 that I've lit up a real tobacco-burner.

My theory is: I am going to smoke - might as well pick the option with the lesser of the chemicals. Seems to be working. I've spent less money (!), feel a lot better and am glad I did it.

Give it an honest try, Bob. I think you'd be amazed.

You missed my point. That being, any company that tries to sell you on something that is "green," the product it is designed to replace should actually be greener. A Camel is green. It is tobacco and paper lit by fire.

The electronic version is filled with chemicals, requires extensive manufacturing using lots of stuff like rechargeable batteries, LEDs, plastics and polymers of all sort and it is packaged in plastic and printed cardstock.

    Just an observation.
