More dead leaves. No tweaking needed this time.

These are some pictures I took today, obviously edited. I like it that way. They look like paintings to me.

Hi Johanna - a question on the vines w/ fruit and the net coverings: 1) Seems late in the season, i.e. November now, to be harvesting grapes; and 2) Grapes appear to be dark skinned. My only guess is that these are for 'late harvesting' to make a sweet dessert wine? Just curious - thanks for any info - Dave

Hi All - I'm reading a new biography on my iPad (Kindle book) about Duke Ellington by Terry Teachout (Duke: A Life of Duke Ellington, 2013) - I'm a jazz music fan and have many of his recordings on CD - the image below (left) appeared in an early chapter; another added - drawings by the famous caricaturist Al Hirschfeld (1903-2003, nearly a 100 y/o!) - he made thousands of drawings (many made into signed limited edition lithographs now several for around $2000 USD) - I own a great DVD called The Line King about his life (published nearly 20 years ago & recommended for those interested) - just google his name & select images to see his fabulous drawings - Dave

Thanks for this. I'd seen a couple of his drawings but had no idea how many he drew, I just never looked until now. That was pretty cool

No problem. I almost supposed you would ask. :-)
They will become late harvest wine, as you guessed, or, if the temperatures drop under a certain degree (I think it's -6 or -10 C), they are for Eiswein (ice wine).

Thanks - I use to have a lot of 'sweet' dessert wines in my cellar, especially half bottles of Sauternes which I would age for 8-10 yrs or more - wife & I loved them but kind of loss interest a while ago. Now, I've also had a number of 'ice wines' - on this side of the Atlantic, probably Canada (BC & Ontario around the lakes) is well known for those 'frozen berry' wines - the best from there that I've had are from Inniskillin using either Vidal or Riesling grapes; also just had a nice Vidal ice wine from the North Fork of NY state on my recent visit (in the travel forum) - Dave
