Yes, that is the other one, Scifan. I gather it's based at an aviation museum near Ottawa.

Canada is home to 8 surviving Lancasters, including the flight worthy example at the Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ontario, and two substantial wrecks. One of the other 8 survivors is currently undergoing restoration to flight worthy status. When completed, Canada will have 2 Lancasters in flying condition, leading to the possibility of formation flyovers.

I like that last photo of your friend's Richard, with the Spit still recognizable in shape though so far away, and that lovely old machine in the foreground. Is that a DC3? My first commercial flight was in one many years ago. I still remember boarding and having to walk up the surprisingly steep slope to get to my seat, which then was much wider and more comfortable than the sardine-can efforts now found in "economy class".

Yes, it is a Dakota (DC3). Like you, I remember the steep slope I had to climb to get to my seat. We flew in DC3s in Burma early in the 1960s.

Before our meeting, we witnessed the RAF fly past on its approach to Buckingham Palace in connection with Trooping the Colour.

The camera card was full! So I had to off load the card and use the spare capacity in the camera's memory. I picked a building to aim at and took the photos as the aircraft were passing my aim point. I had no idea whether I had captured anything. So apologies if some photos are not properly centred.

We were accidentally at the Trooping The Colour parade on the Mall. On our way from Regent Street to County Hall we ended up on some open stairs in St James with a perfect view just before the Royals and the rest of the parade passed by. We didn't get to see the flyover as we had other plans but probably a good thing judging by the rain later in the day!
