I have my new Ipad 4th Generation with all the power upgrades. I'm really good at getting confused when it comes to using my electronic toys. I need to get a better grasp of how to properly deal with loading apps and books on my Laptop and syncing same to the Ipad. And, syncing from the ipad onto my laptop. I will appreciate hearing from anyone.

You don't need a laptop to load apps. Just download them straight to the iPad. You can do the same if you get books from itunes or amazon. You can also backup to the cloud if you want, and not even use the laptop for that either. It is your choice, but it is worthwhile to minimize the use of the laptop. IMO, anyway.
