Hi there, my name is Jo, i am a newcomer and still dont know very well how this all works (it is my first blog ever)....although it doesnt seem too difficult....I am worried that someone may have hacked into my IPad through my Skype application and may be recording my conversations, is that possible? Jo

Hack your iPad through Skype? Highly unlikely.

That does not mean they might not have gotten access to your Skype account itself. I don't know enough about Skype to know if recording conversations is possible, but if it is and they have your Skype password, they can probably do it.

Solution? Go to Skype's site and change your password.

You'll have to update all your Skype apps (iPad, computer, other) with the new password.

Oh, and if you want more it would not hurt to contact Skype directly and let them know what your concerns are and why you suspect a problem.

Hi, thanks For the reply, i have an iPad 3 and what actually happens is that when i minimize the skype screen while talking to someone to search For something on internet, on the minimized bar it states "Skype (Recording)". Now i have not downloaded any application to be able to record my conversations on Skype, and as far as i am aware, Skype does not have recording features, could someone have accessed my camera. I have already changed all my passwords. And it still states it... Thanks Jo

That "Skype Recording" message is your iPad's (and Apple's) way of telling you that an app is using your microphone. It's not actually recording anything. There is only a couple of ways for apps to tell you they are still running due to Apple programming. it's set up as a reminder so that you know the Skype app is still active and you are still ready to receive calls. It's a notification only.

    Hope this clarifies.

Be glad to get the forum app, but can no longer get or update any apps due to a $100 iTunes phony charge to my Discover card. Result is new cards, Apple ID, passwords, security questions; all changed, but now iTunes will not accept the 3-digit security code on the new cards. Affects our iPad 2, iPad mini and iMac.
