Left 1/3 of iPad screen is black and/or streaky

The left 1/3 of my iPad (original -first one) is black and/or streaky looking in the portrait position In the landscape, the black section remains, but stays in the same area. Tried soft reset, hard reset, syncing - nothing helps. I suspect it's a hardware problem. Jusy wanted to know if anyone has any other suggestion before I take it to the store. (oh well, i guess I'm due for a new one - just hope i don't get a new one with screen problems that I've been reading about)Left 1/3 of iPad screen is black and/or streaky-photo.jpgLeft 1/3 of iPad screen is black and/or streaky-ipadphoto.jpg

Welcome to the iPad forums. Our members come from all over the world and many of them volunteer their time to help other members get the most out of their devices by answering questions and helping to solve any problems they may have.

I agree, it's certainly a hardware fault of some kind. The best thing to do is take it to an Apple store for an examination. The repair cost could be well over $100.00. Instead of paying the repair cost, it may be better to put that money towards the cost of a newer iPad. Make sure to do a backup of your iPad before taking it in. You can use the backup to set up whatever iPad you get as a replacement.
