From Android to Apple newb !

Hello my name is bob I'm an avid android user with my htc evo 4G for sprint but now I've made the jump to Apple as well. I recently picked up a brand new iPad 3rd gen 32gb + wifi. I'm really interested in what is all possible with this cool piece of equipment I just purchased as far as customization and personalization. So I guess my question to you forum members is which apps and which game should I first download being the new user I am to the apple iPad? I know the common ones like Facebook, twitter etc... But any other apps pertaining to customizing and personalizing my iPad, and games to keep me entertained. And another question... What sites can I visit to download apps that aren't in the iTunes store? Sorry for any grammatical errors in this long paragraph and Im looking forward to learning and discussing about the Apple IPad! Thanks!

For any customization beyond the basic security, background, and region settings you'll need to jailbreak. The same to get apps no in the App Store. Jailbreaking on an iPad is about half way between unlocking and rooting on Android. Check out the Hacking area and read the sticky posts at the top of the thread list for details.

Bastion just came out for the iPad. Best game I've played in a long while. I'm not a big RPG player so there might be better, but this one sucked me in.

Congratulations on making the jump to Apple! I think you will love the iPad.
Unfortunately, on the iPad/iPhone, the only way to download apps is through iTunes/App Store. As twerppoet mentioned, the only way to download apps for iPad from outside sources is to jailbreak it. Check out the hacking section of the forum to learn more about jailbreaking.
