Purchased the new iPad 4G. Still exploring it.
Are there many versions of the new IPad? Wondering since I am unable to find a way to use it as a personal hotspot while somebody could make it on the forum. Software is latest iOS 5.1.1. But general-network section doesnot show option of creating a personal hotspot as shown in one of the thread. The carrier supports hotspot.
Hope somebody can help.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Go to Settings - General - Network and see if you have a tab to turn on Personal Hotspot, if your carrier supports it, it should be there.
If not this is a service that some Carriers charge for so you will need to get in touch with them, they then activate it on your iPad.

I removed the sim from my iPad and inserted in iPhone. I could connect my iPad with iPhone through tethering using personal hotspot of iPhone. But I am not getting the personal hotspot link in iPad - settings - when I insert the same sim in my new iPad. I checked the operating system is latest iOS 5.1.1 in both iPhone as well as my new iPad. Don't know what is the problem.

Carriers treat the iPad and iPhone different, just because you can get the hotspot on the iPhone does not necessarily mean it will be available on the iPad. Use of an iPhone is limited as far as Internet coverage is concerned but an iPad opens up so many more possibilities. Do you know your carrier supports the personal hotspot on an ipad? You will need to get in touch with them to see if they do in fact support it and what costs are involved with it if any. Having said that have a look at this link to see if this helps you

I could finally get the personal hotspot in my new iPad.
You need to write the sim carrier name in APN settings manually. It should have taken by itself but it doesn't, at least in my case.
