If this photo is in an album/folder you are syncing through iTunes, you will need to remove it from that folder on the computer and re-sync.

iTunes does a one way sync, computer to iPad. You can't edit this type of album on the iPad. Only at the source.

    Hi there
At the moment I find the whole iPad great and thanks for getting back. There's always so much to lean Concerning the photo I didn't sync though iTunes. It just appeared in one of the headings along the top when I open photos. It just came up in places, I don't like it and can't delete in the normal way

Places isn't an album. It is a way of browsing photos that have GPS data associated with them. If the photo is showing up in the Places tab, it's also in another album. If that is not the camera roll or an imported album, then it was synced and can not be deleted directly.

Find the album the photo is in and you'll be on your way to figuring out how to delete it.

You probably took a screen shot by accident. You do that by briefly pressing the home and power button at the same time. This saves your current view as a picture to the camera roll in the Photos app.

Comes in handy now and then.
