    iPad Newbie

I got an iPad2 for Christmas 2011, and have slowly become a fan. The first thing I noticed was that it could take amazingly clear, sharp pictures. The display was excellent, and using the camera function was intuitive. My daughters introduced me to some of the games (Jetpack Joyride and Temple Run), and I found that reading and disposing of my e-mail is easy, as well. I have a Mac, so Safari was familiar to me. The wi-fi is easy to adapt to my local environment.

I came to this forum to see if I could learn ways of using my iPad more effectively. With the large number of apps I have already downloaded, I want to navigate to the right page quickly so I can get to work (or play).

About me (if you care): I'm an old fart (71), but I consider myself fairly computer savvy (I've been in information technology most of my life). For fun, I fly radio-controlled model airplanes and stunt kites (2 and 4 line varieties). I still work, not because I absolutely have to, but because I enjoy the interaction and learning opportunities. Also, I find I can afford more and better toys! -- Dean

Hi Dean - welcome to the forum!

I'm in my mid-60s and a recently retired academic radiologist - your hobbies sound like fun! I've been a long time woodworker and have spent my first retirement year in updating my shop (especially a new & better table saw), and doing all sorts of projects (mainly ones that were on my 'to do list' when I was still working).

However, concerning your comment above on 'clear, sharp pictures..' on the iPad2, I'm a little surprised; there have been plenty of threads & posts since I joined the forum on the poor quality of the back camera on this device (the newest iPad is MUCH improved regarding resolution) - it's only a .7 MP detector; if interested, check out this HERE, and also post #6 there which will take you to another thread about ways to obtain better pictures on the iPad2.

Hope to see you posting and welcome again! Dave
