Hi everyone I new so I am not sure that I am even posting in the right place !

I am starting collage next year and my perants said they would buy my an ipad to start collage with

My dad only has one concern with them. Do they run mircosoft word? by reading reviews on line I get the impresstion that they don't they run something similar. I was just wondering if you can open documents of thhe internet eg. attactments to emails on them and if you can email notes you have written on your i pad and open them on your compture. and if you can is it hard ?

Hi there Ellie and welcome.

You are lucky to have such great parents. You can't run MS Word on an iPad (yet but it's supposed to be coming!) however, there are many apps which will both open, edit and create MS Word format documents (Quickoffice, Pages and many more). You can certainly open email attachments, you just need the relevant app associated with the file type and notes are easier than you probably think, there are plenty of Apps which will sync your notes from your iPad to your computer.......so it's all good news!

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules Forum rules - everybody please read!!
