Hi im new to this forum,

I basically joined to ask a question.
Ive got an important family event coming up in a few days and would like to know of any app for my ipad 2 which can control my windows media center.
I have thousands of songs/pictures ready for this event and would like my tablet to be the main thing where people can walk up and play a song of thier choice from my media center and also view the pictures (the laptop (dell studio 1747) will be hooked up to a projector and speakers)
Does anyone know of any good free apps which will allow this? ive seen a few and tried one of them - vmcMote - but cant get it to access my windows media center. i downloaded the server onto my pc but cant get it to work - i think it may have somthing to do with my McAffee firewall protection but not sure?

So basically can anyone help me to install a good free app or even somthing that costs up to say around £4.99 which will allow me to control my windows media center through my ipad?

Hello and welcome David...I am not sure on your question but I am sure someone will be along that does know the answer...

Just wanted to say thanks for joining us!

If you are prepared to adjust your requirements slightly, and hook up your speakers to your iPad, VLC Streamer/VLC helper will go part way to solving your problem.

It will stream music and movies from your laptop, but will not do anything for your photographs. The movies, if you go this route can be sent to a projector via the HDMI adapter, as far as I'm aware.

Perhaps you can turn your photographs into a movie somehow and have a rolling slideshow?

I doubt both functions will work simultaneously, at least as far as people walking up and making their choice are concerned.

I downloaded this vmcMote app and it gives me everything i need =]
if anyone wants to download it or check it out its a brilliant little thing;

vmcMote HD Lite (for iPad) - Remote Control your Windows Media Center for iPad on the iTunes App Storerom this i can control the music in my windows media player and also run a slideshow in the background,
having the cool effect of all the album work for the songs on my media center coming up to help people choose.
