Newbie to Ipad here but not to Mac. (25 years). Just got an ipad and tried to transfer some photos. There is no photos tab showing up on the list in itunes under the ipad device. what am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure what you mean by list. The Photos syncing options show up as a tab near the top of the main window, but only when your device is connected and selected (in the Devices list).
