Yes, it is the front facing camera.

Open the camera app and touch the camera icon with the arrows around it. Presto - see yourself. Touch again to go back to back camera.

I think the poster is actually referring to the small hole opposite the home button.

I think it serves as a camera and light sensor on ipad2 and ipad3 and Light sensor only on ipad1.

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken here.
Background apps are hiding for good reason. Seek them out, close them. The world will be a better place.

To confirm if it is a camera turn the iPad over and look for a camera in the corner of the back side of the iPad. If one is present then it's a camera.

Another way....do you have a camera icon on the iPad desktop? It will be there if ipad2 or ipad3 will not for ipad1 . This icon cannot be deleted so ipad2 and 3 users can't remove it if they wanted. Also if you have a FaceTime settings icon when you enter settings mode you have a camera enabled device.

you might want to think about taking your ipad to an apple store(or some 16 year old kid that has an ipad) and asking them to give a five minute tutorial...way easier for you learn the basics of your ipad and a lot faster too then asking here

Oh, I don't know. We can be quite useful here. This picture might have some answers. Just touch it to see it full screen.
