Gmail working fine, til today, now just says "checking for mail..." with swirling thing. There is new mail (have checked via web and Macbook), but not accessible on iPad. I've had this for less than a month. Is it a common problem? Help much appreciated. Thanks.

Is this on the native iPad mail app or the gmail app? Could be an issue of the iPad just not connecting with the gmail server. If it continues you may just delete your account info on the iPad and re enter it.

I'm using the regular apple mail program that's on the iPad. It finds mail from other accounts (e.g. Work email on exchange), and as I said it was fine with gmail until today. Should I delete the account and set it up again?

I had problems with gmail was setup through exchange. My current setup is....

Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Exchange: I have Mail off, Contacts ON, Calendars off.

Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Gmail: Mail, Calendars, Notes and Archive Messages all ON

Since I took it off exchange I have had no issues.
