If you jail break, you can open yourself up to any number of problems depending on how you configure your device or what software you install.

The only malware discovered on iOS devices have been on jail broken devices.

Be sure of what you are doing and what you are installing.

Ive been jailbroken on my iPhone 4 for a few months already and haven't come across any problems was just curious if there was the option of getting extra protection if wanted.

No, there is no extra protection ... and no need for it, even if you are on a jail broken device.

Thewitt's comment applies to a jail breaker who has downloaded any tweak, such as Open SSH, that allows for remote access to the iDevice. Once that tweak is installed, you MUST change the default root and mobile passwords. Since everyone who would hack your iDevice knows that default password, changing it stops any attempt to get access.

The problems/"malware" mentioned by thewitt were ONLY caused because people did not change that default password. Change the password and your jail broken iPad is as safe as a stock one.

Their is no antivirus made for iPad at this time. Jail breaking is only way to get hacked but if your smart about it you should be ok. do not open weird e-mail's from people don't know and their Links.
