Have had iPad2 since May. Suddenly when trying Internet search in Safari, screen goes dark and won't respond to touch. What can I do?

Hi there-welcome to the forum!

Regarding your issue, can you try to restart your iPad and see if that resolves the problem?

Double press the home button to open the task bar at the bottom of the screen, touch and hold any app in this bar until the minus signs appear at the top left of the app icons. Touch the minus sign on the Safari App so that it disappears from the task bar. Now press the home button to get your main homepage back, open Safari and all should (hopefully) be good.
