I am a new user of this forum and not a power user of iPad. My iPad battery acts funny sometimes it goes down very fast when I am browsing like 10% in 10 minutes and sometimes it's like 20% in one hour. Should I take it to the apple store and would they have solutions or is it something I can correct myself? Thanks guys.

There's probably nothing wrong with your iPad. Apple recommend that you should do a charge cycle every month, one of the reasons for this is to keep the charging estimate accurate. If you charge your iPad up to full and then use it till is discharges completely that counts as a discharge cycle. This should recalibrate your iPads battery estimate and you should find it makes more sense . Hope this helps.

Regarding your question there are a few things you can do to minimize battery loss. How bright is your screen? I have mine turned down to half with Auto on, try setting yours to where your comfortable with it. Have a look at how many notifications you are running and how often you have Mail set to push. Also close all your apps completely, from the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press an app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly also. Hope this helps.
