The camera appears to work fine on my ipad2 until I try to make a video call using Skype whe I can neither see myself or anybody I am trying to call. The test call works ok but only with audio. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Regarding your question I assume you have actually connected on a call and cannot see video. Was the call placed through Video and do the recipients have a camera on their device? The test call is only Audio I believe. You need a very good signal to use Skype in a video call also. Close the app completely and relaunch it and see if this makes a difference. Do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now and let us know.

hi I'm new to this forum and also new in ipad2
I am having a problem on using skype video call
my first video call using my ipad 2 to a friend wasn't good
bcuz she said she that my video on her end keeps disappearing then pops back again and go out again
can anybody help a noob on this one ?
would appreciate any help

I feel this is an Internet strength problem here, I'm not sure though which end is the problem. Can you see her well? As this would signify the problem is at her end with her Internet.

yes I can see her well on my ipad, but on her end she kept saying she can't see me on her tablet
and also she can't hear me well

That would signify the problem is on her end then, she could try moving closer to her router when using Skype.
I have had problems when traveling with hotel wifi not being great, so then I would just use Audio instead of video at times.

oh ok, but how come when I use my laptop to video chat with her there was no problem ?
I bought an ipad so I can use it anywhere xD

I am not sure here, I still believe the problem is on her end, maybe at this time her Internet strength was better.
When using the iPad to Skype the microphone is at the top of the iPad so try to direction your voice here.
Others may have a better idea on what is happening here so may chime in with their thoughts.

You aren't by any chance covering your camera by accident, are you?

My Skype video pops in and out as you describe, but only when I play peekaboo with kids on the other end by covering my camera intermittently, lol.
