    Problems running podcasts on iPad.

I have Problems running podcasts on iPad, thats why I'm in here.
Sometimes, most of the times, when running a podcast, it stops, instead og continuing on the next track.
The podcasts I get have many tracks (each of 3-4 min.)
Does anyone have the same kind of problems.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your question when an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. To do this do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now, if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When an App or your iPad begin to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

iOS 5 jacked up the podcast feature. Others have complained about audiobook chapters and podcasts not continuing automatically. Unless Apple fixes it, we're stuck with what functions (or what doesn't.) The alternatives are apps. Downcast ($1.99) is one that has gotten good reviews for podcast management. I also use Audible (free), for audiobooks.

Thank you both of you for your answers. I have tryed everything without results. Since I wrote my question I have been in contact with an adwisor from AppleCare. The conclusion is (like Kaykaykay says) that iOS5' music application dosn't automaticallt continue from track to track, and it dosn't remember, where you have come to in Audiobooks and podcast. I download audiobooks to iTunes as podcast or audiobooks from a special libery, and some of the books have hundreds of tracks, so the fact is, that I use my old Creative Zen again. Embarrassing to an Apple-fan like me.
"Downcast" app is very good - thank you Kay kay kay - unfortunatly I cant get my audiobooks into the app.

Yes, AFAIK, Downcast doesn't work with audiobooks. But it might be worth reaching out to its developers to ask whether that's a possibility in future. They might be more responsive than Apple in addressing audiobooks.

If Audible is available where you are, I highly recommend it for purchasing audiobooks. It's user friendly and reliable. (I've used it for years, and have noticed that it's much more reliable since Amazon bought it, probably they've finally invested in some server upgrades or such.) Its audiobooks are compatible with a huge variety of devices, and selection is good.

I have my audiobooks on a bunch of devices, and recently tapped out my licenses because I switched computers. With one quick phone call to Audible, they reset my account so I could wipe out old devices of my choosing.

I'm picky about customer service, and I've been very pleased with Audible. I like that an actual human answers the phone and knows how to help. The Audible app is great. All tracks are continuous, and you can easily rewind, choose speeds, set sleep timers and more.
